This once-great country is doomed.
2 Timothy 3 tells us:
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! 6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
If this doesn’t describe America today, I don’t know what does. Even more tragic, many of the characteristics listed above can be found among those sitting in our pews! In addition, the number of people with absolute disdain towards what was once basic, solid values (even among unbelievers) is growing exponentially.
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes,
And prudent in their own sight!
22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine,
Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink,
23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe,
And take away justice from the righteous man!
24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble,
And the flame consumes the chaff,
So their root will be as rottenness,
And their blossom will ascend like dust;
Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts,
And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. Isaiah 5
Though Isaiah was speaking to Israel in the above passage it can very well apply to America today.
Set aside America’s moral depravity and we still have cause for God’s righteous judgment: namely, our growing betrayal of Israel. Though certainly not originated by them, this current administration is delighting in sticking their finger in the apple of God’s eye. Let’s not forget God’s promise to His friend Abraham:
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed. Genesis 12:3
So, you see, America’s wicked delight in that which is evil, its vitriol against all things Biblical, its seething hatred for common decency paired with its demands that Israel give up its God-given land and blatant disrespect for His Word all complete the formula necessary for the judgment of God. Perhaps even as pertinent is the fact that lazy Christians allowed it to get this bad in the first place. It would’ve been so nice to think that America’s ultimate demise was because the overwhelming majority was taken in the Rapture. That, obviously, will not be the case. Nor will America’s epitaph be as pleasant as the one depicted in the above photo.
