A Literary Journey of the World, Sprinkled with Prayer

I feel inspired by the woman who, in 2012, decided to blog about reading one book from each nation in the world. I’m going to try the same, using her list of suggested titles and their nations of origin.  I want to take it a little further though, give it a little more meaning.

While reading each book, I want to pray for the author-if they are still alive-and the people of that nation. I pray that God also uses it to open my eyes and my compassion to the peoples of the world. These are people from cultures vastly foreign from mine, but whom God knows and loves; for whom He died. Since I am unable to travel the world in the real world, I will attempt to do so in the literary one.

I begin the new year in Afghanistan with The Kite Runner.

I will post a page listing what I am currently reading as well as what I finished. I may throw in a review or two. I can tell already that I am going to love my first selection, as I was reluctant to put it down so I can write this post!

Meanwhile, happy new year! May it bring you closer to God and wrapped in His love.

The Untruths of The History Channel’s Revelation: End of Days and a Passionate Plea

I apologize for the delay in posting my opinion of The History Channel’s airing of Revelation: The End of Days. I will not provide a link for it here, because you needn’t bother watching it. In fact, I implore you not to!

While episode one was a little kooky and left many questions, episode two (the conclusion) revealed its satanic origins. Immediately following its conclusion last night I sat at my desk and began writing my review, including all the errors, misquoting of Scripture and just plain ridiculousness that I had just witnessed. Very rarely do I write something and post it immediately. It must ruminate for a while. During this rumination, God stepped in as the Divine Editor and urged me to keep it simple and direct and that is what I will attempt to do.

Instead of listing out all the errors and deceptions I am going to get straight to the point and give you the three major-and damning-untruths and mistakes. Someone told me today that they thought the show could still maybe do some good and get people to thinking about the Tribulation and want to avoid it. I disagree and here’s why:

*The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not preached at all throughout the four-hour series. Not once. His name is mentioned and His second coming referred to but no Gospel. People were raptured (in two stages, the children first then the adults) but it was never explained why. Their explanation was that God removed those who were truly good and righteous to keep them from the days of testing. No word about those people being righteous because of the blood of Jesus.

*The purpose they gave for the tribulation was a deception. According to the show, the purpose of the tribulation was to test the faith of mankind. In Truth, the purpose of the tribulation is for God to pour out His wrath on a world that rejects Him and to get the attention of His people, the Jews. From them, He will establish a remnant of Jewish believers, who finally accept Jesus as their Messiah.

Behold, the day of the Lord comes,
Cruel, with both wrath and fierce anger,
To lay the land desolate;
And He will destroy its sinners from it. Isaiah 13:9

“I will punish the world for its evil,
And the wicked for their iniquity;
I will halt the arrogance of the proud,
And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. Isaiah 13:11

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head. Obadiah 1:15

The remnant of Israel shall do no unrighteousness
And speak no lies,
Nor shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth;
For they shall feed their flocks and lie down,
And no one shall make them afraid.” Zephaniah 3:13

Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.” 4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:

5 of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed;[a]
of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand were sealed;
6 of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand were sealed;
7 of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand were sealed;
8 of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand were sealed;
of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed. Revelation 7

*The final tragic deception of the show was their interpretation of Jesus’ second coming. The clouds swirled, there was a bright light and then peace. No Jesus standing on the Mt of Olives. No Jesus entering through the eastern gate and establishing His Kingdom. No, they said His second coming (which wasn’t a coming at all) ushered in a new era of peace and an earth restored to its Eden-like glory. There will be peace and restoration, but only because the Prince of Peace rules out of Jerusalem. Jesus isn’t even shown, and His Good News never shared.

Hogwash, all of it. Deception. LIES.

If you are reading this post, you are capable of reading the Word for yourself. Take a look at the final chapters of the Bible. Read for yourself what will be. It won’t be some galactic contest where only the strong survive and are rewarded with a clean, peaceful earth.

Most of the folks reading this know the Truth. They know the inaccuracies of Revelation: The End of Days. Believe me, there were MANY more inaccuracies.

For those of you who watched it and had your interest piqued, let me plead with you: Don’t look to man’s commentary or Hollywood’s interpretations; look to the Word of God. It has all the answers you need and it tells you the True Story of history and the future. Browse my above pages Are You Ready and How I Know the Bible Is True. It is full of Scripture verses to get you started. But don’t take my word for it, read it for yourself. What do you have to lose by opening your heart and mind to the Word of God? What do you have to lose if you don’t?

Video of Revelation: End of Days ??

If someone knows of a link to last night’s premiere of The History Channel’s Revelation: The End of Days, will you please post the link in the comments. I’ve had a request by someone whose country does not support videos from The History Channel. I cannot find it on Youtube but, then again, I’m a little ditzy at times. SO, if you know of a way someone can view episode one please post it below.

Thanks and Maranatha!
