I saw the following on FB and have to share. While I certainly don’t like every character Eastwood has played in films, he has also been the epitome of testosterone and grit in my mind. Incidentally, my son is named Eastwood. I was mean as a hornet when I was expecting him and knew I had to give him a name that represented grit and toughness. Anyway, I pray Mr. Eastwood surrenders to Jesus before it is too late, if he hasn’t already. Cause luck ain’t got nuthin’ to do with it.

If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will be a clear, cold morning when there isn’t any “more.” No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. Who Said It First?

“A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do.”

It’s a pretty well-known idiom. It’s been credited to everyone from John Steinbeck to John Wayne. But who said it first? I have no idea. I’ve searched the internet – which is the fountain of all knowledge, correct? – and have found plenty of opinions, but no definitive answers.

What I do know for a fact is that my own father used to say, “A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do when a man’s gotta do it.” That’s where I first heard it. My dad was my source.

But you’ve gotta admit, it sounds like something John Wayne would say.
