Joy to the world!

Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. The Lord has made known His salvation; His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the nations. He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout joyfully to the Lord , all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the Lord with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a psalm, With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the Lord , the King. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell in it; Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together before the Lord , For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, And the peoples with equity. Psalms 98:1‭-‬9 NKJV

Joy to the World is a popular Christmas hymn, however it isn’t about Christ’s first coming at all. Written by Isaac Watts and first published in 1719, it is based on Psalm 98. As the words of both the Psalm and hymn suggest, it is about Christ’s second coming and His reign upon earth.

Oh JOY to the world!  What a joyous day that will be!!

Happy Hanukkah

We observed our first Hanukkah Saturday night; it being the first night of said festival. The story behind Hanukkah has come to mean something special to me, especially in these last days. My son and I discussed how it is important to take a stand and trust God. We also talked about being a light as Yeshua is the Light and, like the menorah in the story, to trust God will sustain us and give us what we need. We also celebrated how even when we are faced with tremendous opposition,  God is still in control.

Happy Hanukkah!
