The things I am about to share with you over the next few posts are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable for you to consider and, quite frankly, uncomfortable for me to share. That is because I will no doubt be labeled by some as a conspiracy nut, or as just plain nutty. Then again, I am a stay-at-home-home school-homesteading mom who wears a head covering (1 Cor. 11) and doesn’t “do” santa or the Easter bunny, doesn’t watch TV, and a gentile who observes Hanukkah. I suppose I am already considered odd, even by Christians, so I may as well lay it all out on the table. 🙂 I am half-joking, but this is serious business.
Over the next few posts I am going to share with you some videos I have been praying over. I pray for discernment and wisdom. I recommend you do the same. I pray that God not allow me to be deceived nor to naively go down any unnecessary rabbit holes. The response has been MORE videos and information that corroborates and expands upon the previous videos. So. Here we are.
There is one important thing we need to understand about spiritual warfare: It isn’t necessarily how most of us in the West consider it to be. Remember the old cartoons that would have a little devil pop up on one shoulder and an angel on the other? That is about the extent of how many people view spiritual warfare.
Real spiritual warfare isn’t a cartoon!
There is an unseen war raging all around us and most people aren’t even aware of it. There are legions whose main goal is to keep mankind in the pit of darkness and to stave off the worship and knowledge of the One True God Jehovah and His Son Yeshua Ha Mashiach. Their job is an easy one where unbelievers are concerned, but these legions aren’t interested in those they have already captured. They want those who claim to be Christians and those who are searching. Meanwhile, those who profess to know Christ are sitting idly by, unaware they are in the middle of a war or if they are aware it is a vague awareness as demonstrated in the old cartoons.
Mostly, American Christians are just too comfortable. We are comfortable physically, yes, but we are also comfortable in our willful ignorance of the real battle. We are so comfortable that we aren’t engaged in the warfare at all. Instead we are playing footsie with the enemy and don’t even know it! We, too, are among those who call evil good and good evil. We have become so comfortable in our traditions and with the world that we cannot recognize the enemy, even when he has us by the throat!
And he does have us by the throat!
If we aren’t thinking of spiritual warfare as a cartoon then we go the other extreme and think of it as obvious demonic activity. While evil is certainly becoming more “in your face”, it is only because we opened the door to it by ignoring our “little” sins and dipping our toes into the world’s pool.
There are many reasons for this but I will give just a couple. Somewhere along the way, Jesus stopped being Lord. Well, He didn’t stop; we stopped serving Him as Lord. The Gospel became watered down (a subtle but effective weapon of the enemy) and the Holy Bible became merely a blue print for moral living, rather than the Living (and literal) Word of God that is sharper than any two-edged sword.
Allow me to close this introductory post with a few key verses we need to arm ourselves with as the Lord opens our eyes to the battle around us. It is my prayer that all believers wake up to the schemes and weapons of the enemy so we may be as wise as serpents, harmless as doves and fully devoted to the work set before us. Also take time to watch the linked video below the Scriptures. Maranatha!
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,….II Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJV
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. I Peter 5:8-9 NKJV
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:10-12 NKJV
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:1-2 NKJV
