A Radical Change

That was me a couple days ago. I usually have an apathetic relationship with my hair. I usually just don’t care, especially since I do not have a public job.

Saturday, I had had enough of it though. I have very thick hair and when it gets long, it really weighs me down. It also naturally wants to wrap itself around my neck. I hate that. Pony tails, while an option, pull at my scalp too much and give me a headache. So, I texted my sister to see if she was home. She was not.

Instead of being patient and waiting until Sunday (today), I begged Hubs to cut it. He was unsure but I assured him it’s just hair and would grow back. This was the result.

Technically, this was taken around lunch today after my sister corrected some stray long pieces that hubs left.

So then, this evening I went to my Mom’s and she gave me bangs. Unfortunately, my cowlick was out of control and the “tinsel”, ie gray, became very obvious.

My sister offered to color it. At first I said to just go my original pale blonde, how it was when I was young, but then I had a crazy idea. Why not really shake things up a bit? After all, if I don’t like it, it will fade out and by then the salon should be open to restore my natural blonde. It is shorter than I’d prefer, but it will grow. I try not to get too hung up on such things. Anyway, without further ado……

I was nervous about what Hubs would say, ha ha, but he likes it. It certainly feels better!!

  1. Marcia, WOW! I never responded to any blog like this one but I’m glad I got to in your case! Your regular or natural hair style and look is nice and it seems down home is the best way I can put it as though if you want to be your dignified typical looking self that you and everyone has grown accustom to then it was fine the way you had it! But, this new look and color when I scrolled down to it I said WOW that is some not radical change but a very dramatic really great look for you as if you were prepared for some new profession or position with a highly responsible key role to play in the organization; maybe I mean like one of the important people or key officials with the upper management team but so dignified and not being provocative to do it the way so many women often do those sort of things I would say. It really is a beautiful very becoming and so pleasant appearance that I see how it would put others at ease and how hey would want to be very thoughtful, respectful and cooperative with you; bring out the better in them! I really think you look tremendous and I can see why your Hub is liking it totally! You both make a great couple obviously from what I knew from previous photos, but now an even outstanding fine couple I’m sure! Good for you and hubs and God bless you. Simply marvelous as I think Billy Crystal used to put it in some of better entertaining years making the line famous, and lots of grace too! It’s amazing what a proper hair cut or styling can do and I’m one that could or should seek advice myself having just let it go blah these days, LOL.
Take care and all the best!

      1. You’re welcome! Well hold on, one of my sisters used to be a professional hair and beauty salon stylist and of course family were always hitting her up if she didn’t offer to help like your sister did which she actually did often anyway! So perhaps your sister being so talented in that regard can make her sister feel all the more charming and looking great and if I were on the receiving end of such a good hair styling sister or not I usually said here you go and stuff some cash in her pocket feeling it was well worth it; and I didn’t have to even drive anywhere or deal with waiting around in a shop, I got a heck of a deal actually! I figure your sister could certainly make a few extra bucks helping you and anyone else in the family or her friends seeing as she has that talent!
