It has been a long time since I have given a prophecy report. In acknowledgement of the upcoming solar eclipse, I figure it is time for one. Please note, I make no predictions of any kind. I wish only to present to you the facts, both biblical and secular. Those of you with your finger on the pulse of end times events are likely already aware of what lies ahead in the next month or so. Regardless, may we consider this information prayerfully and seriously. Much of churchianity regards these things with a rolling of the eyes, not realizing that by doing so, they are themselves fulfilling the prophecy that in the last days there will be scoffers. Please also note that I in no way wish to “sensationialize” anything. I have no interest in catchy headlines intended to scare people. However, we all should take a moment (or two) to really ask ourselves: If Jesus does come for His church TODAY, will I join Him in the air or will I be left to face the most terrible time this planet will ever see? Does Jesus know me? Do I belong to Him? And all God’s people say, Maranatha! Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!
The following events are scheduled to occur within the next month:
August 21: The first of two Total Solar Eclipses over America. The second will be in 7 years. (Note: the tribulation period lasts 7 years too.) This eclipse will be seen only by the continental USA. No where else in the world can see it.
Sundown August 21: Rosh Chodesh Elul, the first day of the Hebrew month of Elul. When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai with the 10 Commandments, he found the people worshipping the golden calf. Moses broke the stone tablets and went back up on the mountain where he prayed for 40 days and nights for God to forgive the people of their idolatry and unfaithfulness. God did forgive and instructed Moses to ascend the mountain a third time to receive the law on the tablets again, since the first set had been broken. This third time up the mountain is now known as the First day of Elul. It took another 40 days/nights to receive the law tablets. Forty days from 1st Elul is Yom Kippur (more on that later). So, Elul is the month of repentance. It is customary to blow the shofar every day but Sunday during the month of Elul.
What does Elul have to do with us and the eclipse? Stay tuned, ha ha.
August 23: A FEMA exercise, “EARTHEX2017” is scheduled. It will simulate mega earthquakes, EMP attacks and other catastrophies.
September 1: FEMA’s National Preparedness Month. Ban on Americans traveling to North Korea goes into effect. Some fear this may be an indication of an impending war.
Sundown September 20-sundown Sept. 22: Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year and the first two days of the month of Tishrei. This can be confusing because Tishrei is actually the seventh month on the Hebrew calendar. The upcoming Hebrew year is 5778. Rabbinic Jews teach that the first day of Creation was on this day and this year will mark the earth as being 5778 years old. There is a little controversy or confusion about this, stemming from sometime after Christ, the Jews did some fudging on the math so that it would appear Jesus did not live during a significant period of time. That’s another post altogether.
Sundown September 20-sundown Sept. 22: Feast of Trumpets. The same day as Rosh Hashana. As you may recall, the Lord issued 7 feasts or Holy Days for the Israelites (Leviticus 23). The Feast of Trumpets is a day of Sabbath-rest and a memorial of blowing of trumpets. It is THE ONLY DAY in which they DO NOT KNOW on which day it will be. It depends on when they see the new moon. If the new moon is on September 21, that is the Feast of Trumpets. If it is on the 22, that is the day. Remember, Jewish days begin at Sundown..not at midnight like ours. Note: It is interesting that when referring to His return, Jesus said, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man…” (Matthew 24:36) The Feast of Trumpets is the first of the last three feast days. It is commonly accepted upon eschatologists and theologians that Christ fulfilled the first 4 feast days but the remaining three will be fulfilled with His second coming. Many believe the rapture of the church could happen on this day. Anyway, it is celebrated as a memorial of God’s covenant with His people, the Jews, and the shofar (a ram horn blown as a trumpet) is sounded. The day is observed as preparation and repentance leading to the Day of Atonement.
Sundown September 22 (our Sept.23): Shabbat Shuva. This is the sabbath day that falls between Rosh Hashana/Feast of Trumpets and Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement). Shabbat means Sabbath and Shuva means “return”, or some translators say “repent”. Shuva is a derivative of the word “shuv”. Shuv is an action, not a thought. As this one website says, “It is not possible to experience (God’s) deliverence by thought alone. Unless walking follows talking, there is no change in direction.” (www.skipmoen.com/2013/04/once-more-only/ Thus, I believe it is safe to assume, Shabbat Shuva is a day to fully repent, or return to the Lord.
Sundown September 29: Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement. This is the holiest day of the year for the Jews and includes a 25 hour period of fasting and prayer, emphasizing repentance and atonement. This year, Yom Kippur also occurs on a Sabbath. It is the only day the high priest could enter into the Holy of Holies to offer a blood sacrifice for the sins of the people. It is 40 days after the First of Elul, which we mentioned earlier as being the month of repentance and 10 days after the Feast of Trumpets. It is traditionally regarded as the day that Moses returned to the camp with the second set of stone tablets. The word Kippur comes from the root word kafar/kofer which means “redeem” or “ransom”. Another definition is “to atone by offering a substitute”. During the days of the sacrificial system, this day was when the High Priest made a blood sacrifice for the sins of the people, bringing them back into “good standing” with God. As Christians, we know that Jesus (Yeshua Ha-Mashiach), is the ultimate and final substitute for our sins. This feast will find its fulfillment at Christ’s return following the Tribulation ( remember the primary “goal” of the tribulation is to once and for all deal with Israel and bring the Jews to Christ; that is is why it is also called “the time of Jacob’s trouble”).
September 30: The end of the day is the deadline for Congress to pass a budget. If they do not, there will be another government shutdown in the US.
Sundown October 4-sundown October 11: Sukkot or Feast of Tabernacles. Finally we have the Feast of Tabernacles, the last of the Lord’s feasts as outlined in Leviticus 23. It marked the end of the agricultural year. Many Jewish families build a “sukkah”, which is a small hut in which they eat their meals during the days of the feast. This is to commemorate the huts in which the Israelites lived during their 40 years wandering the wilderness. No normal work is to be performed during the first and last days of Sukkot. This is a time of celebration and many also contribute to charity during this time. It represents a time of renewed fellowship with the Lord. Some speculate that IF Jesus was conceived during Hannukah (December) and born during Sukkot (though others speculate He was born during the Feast of Trumpets), then it gives a new meaning to John 1:14 which says, “the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us”.
So. There is a brief outline of important events in the days ahead. What does it all have to do with us, specifically the U.S.A? I mean, why have I included Jewish holidays? First let me say, the above are not just Jewish Holidays. They are the Feasts of the Lord. Anyone within a covenant relationship with God should, at the VERY LEAST, be mindful of them. Also, these last three feasts are yet to be fulfilled by Christ. Could this be the year that starts fulfilling them? We shall see.
I asked before what does Elul (which begins August 21) have to do with us in America. The answer seems obvious. We live in a nation with Christian roots, founded upon biblical principles. As of late, however, we appear to be anything but a God-honoring nation. BUT, BUT….there are still millions of Christians in America! You may exclaim. Really? There may be millions of people who claim to be Christians in America but how can we truly say we are a Christian nation? The death of millions of babies beg to differ. The fact that we allowed ONE WOMAN to have prayer removed from our schools begs to differ. The fact we applaud the homosexual/transgender lifestyle to the point of even allowing the abominations to hold leadership within our churches begs to differ. The fact that many mainline churches teach a watered down Gospel begs to differ. The fact many mainline churches teach that Allah and Yahweh are the same person, that Islam and Christianity and Judaism worship the same God, begs to differ!! The fact that even Christian women show their claws at the mere mention of the instruction to submit begs to differ. The fact that adultery and fornication is as prevalent among church goers as nonbelievers, begs to differ. None of these facts honor the One True God, of the Bible. If America has millions of Christians, how is it these things are not only allowed, but celebrated? That is because American churchianity is just that. It is an entirely different organization from what Jesus established. Our churches are full of apathetic, lazy, religious gossips. Obviously that isn’t to say that there are NO true Christians among us. There are. However, somewhere down the line we grew silent out of fear. We are afraid of offending anyone. By doing so, we are tolerating our families, friends and neighbors into hell. Furthermore, we have forgotten God’s command to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:16) and to live a life worthy or our calling (Ephesians 4). Whether it be what we watch on t.v., the jokes we laugh at, the movies we watch or the company we keep, are we living holy lives? It is true that we still struggle with the flesh and we are not yet perfected, but we should desire to be! We can control much more than we give ourselves credit, especially if we have the Holy Spirit within us. I dare say many, if not most, of us have not given much heed to Romans 12. We do not offer ourselves as a living sacrifice. We continue to conform to the patterns of this world instead of being transformed through the renewing of our minds. Serving the Lord is reserved for church and maybe home, but not for the “real world”. We can’t go against the status quo. We can’t submit to the Lord’s authority in every aspect of our lives, including our jobs and education. That would be too irresponsible. (The last few lines are called sarcasm)
The eclipse may come and go without any noticeable consequence or fanfare, but I submit to you that we who are called by the name of Jesus should spend the next few weeks in repentance. We need to repent of our wicked ways, and yes even our sins of omission, and return to the Lord. May we humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God. The fact this eclipse can be seen only in America is because God is giving us a warning. Yeshua Ha-Mashiach is about to return for His bride. America is facing judgment! We who are called by His name need to be on our knees and faces in prayer of repentance and resolving to take every thought and action captive to the obedience to Christ and for God to show mercy to our nation!
In Matthew 12: 39 Jesus said, “…. An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas”. He goes on to tell us in verse 40 that this sign represents Jonah being in the belly of the fish for 3 days, as He will be in the earth (dead) for 3 days. Could it also mean something else? Regardless if this “something else” is what Jesus was also referring to, it is worthy of our consideration. I am referring to Ninevah.
We all know the story of Jonah. He was instructed by God to go to Ninevah and warn of God’s judgment. He didn’t want to, so he fled by boat, trying to escape God. A storm ensued and to shorten the story a bit, Jonah ended up in the belly of the great fish. Once he repented, God had the fish vomit Jonah out and repeated His instruction to go to Ninevah. Jonah did, warning the Ninevites “yet 40 days and Ninevah shall be overthrown”. Much to Jonah’s surprise, and dismay, the entire city repented and God withheld His judgment.
So here is the part we should consider: In the 19th century, cuneiform tablets were discovered dating back to the time of Jonah. These tablets described Ninevah. Around 765 B.C. a plague struck Ninevah, followed by a civil war and then another plague. In 763 B.C. (two years later) a total solar eclipse occured directly over Ninevah. This is known as the Bur-Sagale eclipse and has been confirmed by NASA. Two months later, Jonah shows up issuing God’s warning and the Ninevites repent. While Ninevah was notoriously wicked (and may I note the city was judged and destroyed later, in 612 B.C. apparently having returned to its wicked ways. This is documented in the book of Nahum), could it have been more wicked than our America…based on the facts listed above? Those to whom Jesus spoke in Matthew 12 would have known the story of Jonah and, since it was famous, would have known about the solar eclipse of that time as well. Could this American eclipse be a warning from God to repent? Don’t you think it is best to assume so?
Not convinced? Well let’s consider one more thing. Here is the map showing the path of totality of tomorrow’s eclipse and the one due in 2024.
Hebrew letters have both sounds and meanings associated with them. Every letter has at least one meaning. The Hebrew letter “tav” makes the “tuh” sound but means “mark”, “sign” or “signal”. Over time, the symbols for the letters have changed a bit. From Left to Right is the Ancient Hebrew symbol for the letter “tav” and the Middle Hebrew symbol for it. Both of these existed during O.T. times.
So, the language that could be argued as being THE Divine Language, shows up with the letter “tav” directly over the U.S. and that letter has the meanings of “mark” and “sign”. It would appear the U.S. has been marked with a bullseye. As I said before, the eclipse may come and go with no obvious fanfare, but it is most likely given as a warning.
Forty days from August 21 is the Day of Atonement. May all God’s people take heed to the warning of Jonah, and the eclipse, and repent, returning to God. In Aramaic (the vernacular of Jesus’ time), Elul means “search”. Let us spend the month of Elul searching our own hearts and lives, repenting and surrending all to the Lord, for the rapture of His church is imminent and we want to be counted worthy to escape the things to come (Luke 21:36)!
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Genesis 1
Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezekiel 33: 9
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Matthew 24
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Luke 21
11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2
