God foretold a great battle that will take place when three conditions exist (Ezek. 38-39):When the latter years and latter days have arrived (Ezek. 38:8, 16); when Jews have returned to the Promised Land from many Nations (Ezek. 38:8); when the Jews are dwelling safely (Ezek. 38:8, 11).
All three of these conditions exist right now (Israel is dwelling under God’s protection).
This great battle will be led by a man called Gog. He will rule the land of Magog (modern Russia; Ezek. 38:2).
Magog lies north of Israel (Ezek. 38:15). Some translations say the “far north.” Others say the “uttermost parts of the north.” Russia occupies that location.

Russia is preparing for something. They just completed a drill involving 40 million people, has joined with China to counter U.S. missle defense and has called all Russian citizens located throughout the world to come home NOW, not to wait. Russia has played a master stroke in the current oil crisis by taking the lead in forming a new cartel, but it’s a move that could spell geopolitical disaster.
The meeting between Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela on 16 February 2016 was the first step. During the next meeting in mid-March, which is with a larger group of participants, if Russia manages to build a consensus—however small—it will further strengthen its leadership position.
Until the current oil crisis, Saudi Arabia called the crude oil price shots; however, its clout has been weakening in the aftermath of the massive price drop with the emergence of US shale. With Russia in Syria, many-including myself- have speculated that Ezekiel 38/9 may be around the corner. While it is certainly in the future, it may not be as close as some think. Let’s take a look again at some verses from this passage:
You see, it says Israel will be dwelling in safety with no walls, bars or gates. Is Israel presently living in such conditions? Obviously not.
It will be interesting to see the events which lead up to this sense of security.
