Today’s Passage

This is the passage the Lord led me to read in my quiet time this morning:

God stands in the congregation of the mighty; He judges among the gods. How long will you judge unjustly, And show partiality to the wicked? Selah Defend the poor and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and needy. Deliver the poor and needy; Free them from the hand of the wicked. They do not know, nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are unstable. I said, “You are gods, And all of you are children of the Most High. But you shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes.” Arise, O God, judge the earth; For You shall inherit all nations.

Psalm Sunday-Psalm 121

I look up to the mountains— does my help come from there? ² My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

³ He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not slumber. ⁴ Indeed, he who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps.

⁵ The Lord himself watches over you!  The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. ⁶ The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night.

⁷ The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. ⁸ The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever. (NLT)

Psalm Sunday: Psalm 119 Aleph (1-8)

Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord.
² Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts.
³ They do not compromise with evil,
and they walk only in his paths.
⁴ You have charged us
to keep your commandments carefully.
⁵ Oh, that my actions would consistently
reflect your decrees!
⁶ Then I will not be ashamed
when I compare my life with your commands.
⁷ As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should!
⁸ I will obey your decrees.

Psalm Sunday

Psalm 5

Give ear to my words, O Lord, Consider my meditation. ² Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. ³ My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.

⁴ For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You. ⁵ The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity. ⁶ You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

⁷ But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. ⁸ Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue. ¹⁰ Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, For they have rebelled against You.
