Major events within our natural world often run parallel to what is happening in the spiritual world. Often, the battle begins in the spiritual world before it becomes obvious in the natural world, but you can be sure that any major event in the natural world has its spiritual parallel.
What is happening today with the rising gas prices is no exception. Whatever reasons the politicians and talking heads may give, what it boils down to is there is a group of people who is trying to manipulate the economy by manipulating the people’s access to oil. We see gas prices go up every time there is a military conflict. Many would say that we would not have these rising gas prices if America increased the production of her own oil. However, this oil production is being suppressed. Those with eyes to see are able to discern the spiritual parallel.
Wicked authorities and principalities are working overtime to suppress the availability of oil to the people. Why? What is oil and why is it important?
Throughout the Bible oil is often a symbol of the Holy Spirit. The wicked are attempting to suppress the availability and flow of the Holy Spirit. This has been true throughout the centuries, but it is even more prevalent today, for the enemy knows his time is short and he is a defeated foe.
Let’s look at Revelation chapter 6 verse 6:

The wheat and barley can be symbolic of the peoples of the world. They are the fields of harvest and as such go up in value the closer we get to the End. It is commanded to not harm the oil and wine. The oil is those on whom the Holy Spirit resides and the wine are the same people who are covered in the blood of Christ. They are precious commodities, so to speak.
JB, during his campaign, declared we were fighting for the soul of America. He was spot on and the fight continues. Remember, every event in the physical world has a spiritual parallel and it is the spiritual battle which is the greater reality. Everything that is happening in our world today is the physical manifestation of the spiritual battle happening for the soul of, not just America, but the world. The rising gas prices and manipulation of the world’s oil reserves runs directly parallel to the spiritual forces of wickedness that battle over the people and over the flow of the Holy Spirit.

There is a Dollar general store about a quarter of a mile from my house and I was in there this morning talking to the cashier about the rising gas prices. She lives within walking distance of the store so she walks to work. She said she filled up her truck the other day and since she walks to work, and doesn’t usually go anywhere else she’s hoping the gas in her truck will last her for quite some time. This reminded me of the parable of the 10 virgins. The five wise versions were good stewards of their oil while waiting for the arrival of the bridegroom. The five foolish virgins were not good stewards and were running out of oil. While they were away trying to replenish their oil the bridegroom came and they were left out.

Abba, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we ask that You anoint us with the fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit, that You replenish our oil, that we may be vessels of the rivers of living water that You have made available to us, and that we may be found faithful and watchful until the end. Amen. Maranatha.
