The ruins of a Roman Temple, dating back to the third century BCE, is the center of a storm of Egyptian controversy owing to a pair of six-pointed stars found engraved at the site. According to a report by The Jerusalem Post, the ruins are located on the Elephantine Island in the southern Egyptian city of Aswan.

Dr. Mahmoud Afifi, the head of the Egyptian Antiquities branch in the Antiquities Ministry, said he noticed the engravings, which resemble the Star of David which appears on the Israeli flag, on a stone. He accused the German archaeologists assisting in the temple reconstruction of carving the stars into the stone.

Afifi demanded the German team immediately remove the offending stone, threatening legal action if the archaeologists repeat the move.

One Egyptian news site, Suezbalady, went so far as to accuse a Jewish member of the German team of vandalism with the intent of harming Egyptian culture.

Cities begin to challenge a bedrock of justice: They’re paying criminals not to kill

The odds were good that Lonnie Holmes, 21, would be the next person to kill or be killed in this working-class suburb north of San Francisco.

Four of his cousins had died in shootings. He was a passenger in a car involved in a drive-by shooting, police said. And he was arrested for carrying a loaded gun.

But when Holmes was released from prison last year, officials in this city offered something unusual to try to keep him alive: money. They began paying Holmes as much as $1,000 a month not to commit another gun crime.

Cities across the country, beginning with the District of Columbia, are moving to copy Richmond’s controversial approach because early indications show it has helped reduce homicide rates. Continue to Washington Post

Enemy No. 1: Satan worship returns worldwide

In Mexico, a restaurant worker was reportedly tortured to death as part of a Satanic ritual. Police in Long Island are investigating animal sacrifices which may be being done by a cult. Even an unsolved murder from 1984 has recently been linked to the notorious “Night Stalker” Richard Ramirez, the Satanist serial killer who sometimes committed his murders in a ritualistic fashion.

Thus, mainstream media outlets are proclaiming the global “comeback” of exorcism and spiritual warfare as Christians try to combat a perceived rise in occult practices.

And experts warn demonic influence is real, and not to be taken lightly.

Dr. Karl Payne of Antioch Bible Church, who until recently served as the chaplain of the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks, argues such forces can lead to violence.

“I have no way of knowing if the specific accounts in these articles are real or not,” Payne said. “But I have no question that there have been, and continue to be, killings done in the name of Satan or his minions, carried out by occultists.”

Syrian media says ISIS terrorists attacked Syrian army troops with mustard gas in an offensive against a military airport.

Islamic State (ISIS) terrorists attacked Syrian army troops with mustard gas in an offensive against a Syrian military airport in the eastern province of Deir al-Zor that borders Iraq, Reuters reported Monday, citing Syrian state media.

The reports did not disclose how many casualties were sustained in the attack on the heavily defended airport located south of Deir al Zor city, whose main neighborhoods are under the group’s control.

“The terrorists fired rockets carrying mustard gas,” a statement on state owned Ikhbariyah television station and quoted by Reuters said.

Reuters could not independently verify the media reports. Read article at Arutz Sheva
